Fresno Wedding Photojournalist

I recently entered a bunch of images from my summer and fall weddings into a contest sponsored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). I didn't even get an email, but I usually check the winners anyway, and I was surprised to see one of my images get 2nd place in the Ceremony category. I'm not really a big fan of photo contests (cuz I can never understand the reasoning behind the process of judging art), but I'll take the cash prize anyday LOL. Maybe I can take Cecy on a lunch date to get some Thai food with the prize money.

P.S. Thanks to Laurel and Seth, the lovely couple's wedding where I got this frame.

As soon as I walked into their home and noticed Scott's mismatched socks, I knew right away that it was going to be an awesome shoot.... and these guys did not disappoint. It was a ton of fun frolicking around their undeveloped neighborhood with their two doggies. I cant' wait for the Yosemite wedding this spring, see you guys soon!

Check this out, this is what Scott gave Shelly when he proposed, and if you get to know Scott, you'll say "he couldn't have done it any other way." Scott definitely knows how to think "outside the bun."

And last but not least, my favorite image of the day, I may be biased, but I think this one should be a 40" x 60" canvas in their living room :) for reals.

Daley Hake

Anyone out there know this guy?!?! Daley was nice enough to stop by my pad last Saturday so I can finally meet his mom and his friend, Julie. Daley's a travelin' kind of guy, and happens to be a photographer, among many other things, so if he's in your neck of the woods, you might wanna get a hold of him for some photos. I originally shot this with Daley's whole head and shoulders in the shot, but cropping it super-tight just had this "staring someone straight in the eye" vibe that I liked. What do you think?

Cari & Matt got married on New Year's Eve... I will never forget the intimate moments between Cari and her mom, the harmonica speech during the toasts, and all the fog!!! LOL, Cari almost got pneumonia, but we needed those under-the-overpass shots, right? Just one of those stories to tell the grandchildren later down the road.

By the way, for all you gearheads, since this was such a late ceremony (7 pm), and it was overcast the whole day, I shot mostly at ISO 1600 and 3200 with my Canon 5D mark II, and I was grinning big time. If you're a wedding photographer, you should definitely get your hands on one of these cameras.
